Watch this video: Cara Delevingne designs her collection for Mulberry.
I wanted to write a post on this collection because I love how understated, modernly elegant and practical this collection is, with just a touch of edge. Very conveniently, I also happen to love Mulberry, studs, leather jackets, anything oxblood, England and Cara Delevingne.
For those of you who don’t know, Cara designed a collection of bags for Mulberry that launched on Sept 1st this year. Inspired by Mulberry’s biker jacket and her tattoos, the collection comes in threes – in its wear, size and finish.
The Cara bags can be worn three ways: on the shoulder like a lot of the bucket bags we see in other brands. On the back, like a school bag or batchel. And hand-held, for a daintier look. It comes in three sizes: mini, medium and large. As well as three finishes: natural Nappa leather, quilted Nappa leather, and a camouflage-print calf hair. Well, four finishes if you count the limited edition studded lion rivets on a nude Nappa leather- my personal favourite and bag of choice from this collection.
Some extra-personal touches you will find within the bag are the lion rivet stud, inspired by Cara’s ‘The Great Lion’ Aslan’s finger tattoo and heart-shaped leather patch inspired by, you guessed it, the tattoo on her pinky finger. As well as a “Made in England” stamp across the bottom of each bag, inspired by the very same tattoo on the bottom of her foot.
It would be like you’re toting just a bit of Cara around with you everywhere you go, and what could be better inspiration than that?
