My Sunday morning vibes. A throwback to this black and white casual series shot in 2013.
When I visited the original blog post this morning, I came to learn that this shoot was also inspired by Sunday morning vibes – which that, ladies and gentlemen, is what I call: serendipitous.
Sunday. Possibly only second to Friday in the running for Best Day of the Week. Pure indulgence, made for sleeping in and relishing in the last of freedom before Monday rolls in to ruin everything. We all have our rituals; papers, coffee, breakfast (yoga for the energetic ones…). Its best spent in bed with as little planned activity possible unless it involves Netflix marathons of your favourite TV show. Phoebe Tonkin shows us how to do Sunday right in some old fashioned cotton basics and shares her favourite breakfast spots and homemade recipes.
What time do you normally wake up on a Sunday?
My Sunday morning ritual involves…
I make coffee at home, then I like to go somewhere for brunch. Anywhere that I can sit outside in the sun. I’m not opposed to a mimosa, either.
5 most important bedside objects:
1. Diptique Candle
2. A book
3. Lucas paw paw lip balm
4. Hand cream
5, A sound machine (weird right?)
My breakfast specialty is:
Muffins!!! I’m obsessed with muffins. My old housemate Mahaley taught me how to make them. I make these all the time, and freeze them for the rest of the week. I made, like, 40 last week. The kitchen was a disaster zone!
BANANA QUINOA MUFFINS
3 very ripe bananas
1/2 cup quinoa flour
1/2 cup quinoa flakes
2 TBSP honey or agave
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
*optional – chopped nuts of your choice. Walnuts and pecans are my personal favorite in these muffins.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix all of the dry ingredients in a bowl and set aside. Next, mash up bananas, and combine with eggs and honey/agave. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients. The batter should look similar to the picture below of the muffin tin. Spray your muffin tin with cooking spray. Fill muffin tins about half full or until batter is used. Bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Favourite breakfast in bed meal?
Homemade Hemp Milk latte and Vegemite on toast if I’m a little under the weather.
Favourite breakfast spot
NYC – Umm… Butcher’s Daughter?
Sydney – The Boat Shed at Balmoral Beach
LA – Hugo’s or coffee from the stand outside the Laurel Canyon Country Store
Atlanta – Parish! Or R. Thomas.
My bed attire normally consists of:
In winter time I like to wear flannel button down pyjamas and in summer I prefer to wear, well… nothing.
My sheets are always:
White! Always always white.
One pillow or two?
Before bed I have to make sure…
I have brushed my fangs!
Best cotton basics for lounging:
Hanes cotton tanks from Kmart and Bonds.
I love spending Sundays with…
Happy Sunday, lovers. xo
